Bruce Woerner joined Airgas in 2001 and since that time has helped Airgas increase their plant capacity by 100% in an industry that has only grown by 10%. Airgas is now the largest dry ice producer with a 40% market share and the third largest liquid CO2 producer with a 15% share. His major responsibility is finding new sources of CO2 and competitive acquisitions. Airgas expects to build several new CO2 plants in the next few years, mainly based on ethanol sources. Prior to joining Airgas, Bruce worked for BOC Gases for 23 years where he helped them move from the third largest to the leading CO2 manufacturer in the US. He left as Global Business Manager – CO2. He has published several articles in CryoGas International, the only publication which tracks the CO2 industry, and has presented the CO2 market overview at several ethanol industry tradeshows and workshops including the October Biofules meeting in Atlanta. He has followed the ethanol industry very closely for 16 years and has been involved in lobbying to obtain a 30% share of the RFS for ethanol in 1994 and to avoid the repeated attempts to repeal the 51 cent per gallon excise tax waiver which was defeated in the senate by VP Al Gore’s vote. He received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers and his MBA from New York University. |
