Dr. Elliot Altman is the Director of the Center for Molecular BioEngineering at the Univeristy of Georgia and a participant in the Faculty of Engineering Outreach Service. His laboratories main research interest is the use of metabolic engineering strategies to increase the production of industrially important products such as ethanol, organic acids and recombinant proteins. He received his Ph.D. in Biology from the California Institute of Technology and prior to coming to the Univeristy of Georgia, he was a research fellow at the University of Utah.
