Jeff Strane is director of the Innovation and Technology Office for the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcC) – the state’s lead governmental organization for promoting, marketing and supporting economic growth. He is responsible for sales and marketing for the state’s science and technology assets and recruiting telecommunications, broadband and biotech companies to Georgia.
Prior to his appointment, Strane served as director of sales and marketing for the Georgia Electronic Design Center (GEDC), a leading center of innovation for Georgia’s broadband communications research effort. He successfully established a sales and marketing plan that strategically identified and established contacts with prospective companies, resulting in the development of a broadband communications technology business cluster.
Before joining the GDEcD, Strane served as business development manager for Newnan Utilities in Newnan, Georgia, where he oversaw the development of innovative broadband fiber optic networks, CLEC fiber optic networks, bypass point-to-point fiber optic networks, and a community database intranet site. He also developed commercial/industrial utility proposals and implemented telecommunications-intensive economic development activities for Newnan, which now serves as a model for other communities around the state interested in ramping up their telecommunications infrastructure.
Strane has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Kennesaw State University and currently serves on the boards of the American Electronics Association and the Georgia Biomedical Partnership.
