 Richard “Rick” Shin is a 1972 graduate of Metropolitan State College with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mathematics with a minor in Earth Sciences.  He received his Masters of Arts Degree form the University of Northern Colorado in Science Education in 1980. Rick served as the Science Department Chairman, Bell Middle School 15 years.  Rick was a member of the MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science and Achievement) writing team from Colorado, who developed the National Contest Unit on Solar Heating.

During 30 years of classroom teaching, he participated as Pilot tester and field test teacher for courses from the Colorado School of Mines Continuing Education Program, these courses include, Oil and Gas Exploration, The 3R’s- Radioactivity, Radiation and Radon, Groundwater, Paleontology.  Richard is a member of National Science Teachers Association.  Rick is the Science Consultant for the Office of Education Programs, at NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) and the RnE2EW (Renewable Energy Education and Efficiency on Wheels), a van and trailer that the Office of Education Programs uses for outreach across the nation.  Rick has taken the van and trailer to 18 states and the District of Columbia. 

While in Washington DC RnE2EW have been on display for Members of Congress. Rick has been a Presenter at for The Colorado State Science Teachers Convention, Girls Exploring Science, Engineering and Technology, Western Colorado Math and Science Institute, National Western Governor Conference Energy Summit.
