Steve Markham is a native of Whitewater, Wisconsin.  His farm background and football led him to South Dakota State University of Brookings, South Dakota where he acquired a B.A. in Commercial Economics and a B.S. in Agricultural Business.

Following graduation, Mr. Markham joined The Pillsbury Company as a commodity trader trainee.  After training and assistant trading positions in Minneapolis and Kansas City, he returned to Minneapolis to start the Dried Distiller Grain Marketing Group.  During the ensuing 25 years, Mr. Markham has built the business into the largest DDGS marketing organization in the industry.

Thirteen years ago, Mr. Markham, as a key manager of Pillsbury’s Special Commodities Division, determined to remain with the business when it became a private company called Commodity Specialists.  That transaction has allowed a seamless continuation of the business that had its beginning in 1948 at Pillsbury.  Today Commodity Specialists Company is a leading marketer, merchandiser and service provider of food and feed commodities worldwide from fifteen offices scattered across the United States.
